Cervical Tests

Smear test is used in the Cervical screening tests for women to observe the changes in the cells of the cervix before becoming cancer cells. Changes are done commonly and through the cervical screening can decide up premature cell changes so that treatment will be easy to cure the problem. Early finding and cure for changes in the cells of the cervix can avert cervical cancer.

Screening is worldwide established as a pre-emptive health measure.  While it is known that no screening test is 100 per cent exact, cervical screening is the most proficient technique of identifying woman’s risk of developing cervical cancer.

Depending on the measure of abnormality and HPV test then women with irregular results may:

  • Need nothing more other than normal evoke for another smear in the 3 to 5 years.
  • Have repeat cervical screening test at less time interval.
  • Be referred to a gynecologist for further check of the cervix. Depending on the result of this test, treatment may or may not be needed.

In females below the age of 25, slight changes in the cells of the cervix are frequent but invasive (insidious) cancer is particularly infrequent. People based on screening for women under the age of 25 may lead to much unnecessary treatment for lesion (inject) that would never have developed into invasive cancer.
